From speech and AI to a finished offer (Tischlerei Gerdesmeier)

The Gerdesmeier carpentry from Paderborn brings life into living spaces with individual furniture and complete furnishings. Solid wood, high-quality materials and tailor-made solutions are the trademarks of the manufactory. An intensive exchange with the customers is essential for this. In order to get from the customer meeting to the offer more quickly, the KIDiHa project is developing a Speech2Text process with owner Matthias Gerdesmeier.

THE NEED
The carpentry was looking for an efficient solution for quotation creation in order to reduce the high effort involved in manual creation and to minimize potential sources of error.

THE VISION
More time for the essentials – for all craft businesses that fulfill customer requests to measure. No matter whether electrician, sanitary installer or gardener and landscaper:
Those who spend less time documenting have more time for consulting, can capture wishes more specifically and implement results precisely.

THE SPECIAL FEATURES
The Speech2Text solution makes it possible to digitally record customer requests directly during the consultation. The spoken word is automatically converted into structured offer data – quickly, precisely and directly on site.

THE CHALLENGES
The biggest challenge was to adapt the speech recognition to the technical vocabulary of the carpentry trade. The system had to learn to distinguish relevant offer information from irrelevant conversation content.
